Linux audio software ported to the Mac by other people. All this software is Universal unless otherwise noted.

JackOSX – This is necessary for almost all other software. It lets you route audio from any audio application to any other audio application. iTunes -> GarageBand -> Ardour? No problem.

Ardour – Ardour is a digital audio workstation. Its capabilities include: multichannel recording, non-destructive editing with unlimited undo/redo, full automation support, a powerful mixer, unlimited tracks/busses/plugins, timecode synchronization, and hardware control from surfaces like the Mackie Control Universal. If you’ve been looking for a tool similar to ProTools, Nuendo, Pyramix, or Sequoia, you might have found it. Requires X11.

SooperLooper – A live looping sampler capable of immediate loop recording, overdubbing, multiplying, reversing and more. Amazing. Also available as an AudioUnit.

SWH Plugins – A collection of LADSPA plugins written by Steve Harris. Works great with Ardour.

TAP Plugins – Tom’s Audio Processing plugins is a selection of LADSPA plugins for audio engineering on the Linux platform. Intended for use in a professional DAW environment such as Ardour, it includes high quality reverberation, echo, eq, limiter & more.
