		<description>You've said it all, and you've said it perfectly. And it won't matter, even though I appreciate you saying it.

One suggestion I read is that Apple could have made iMovie operate in a "basic" mode or an "advanced" mode, thus solving whatever perceived shortcomings there were in the original program. 

But, as they say, "whatever". At least '06 will be around for a while. This frustrates me to no end, though. I've been a video editor for close to 20 years. I've worked on everything from cuts-only 3/4" equipment to full Avid systems in my career. iMovie was a great, powerful little tool that did much more than its humble name would suggest. I actually prefer it over FCE and FCP (which I own and use) for many tasks. This new version is a joke, plain and simple.</description>

		<description>I agree with you about iMovie '08, although my impressions are much worse.  I think it sucks.  What about the effects mode..I can't find and believe it is gone to.  I'm not savvy enough for FinalCut, but think I'll stick with iMovie 06.  I also can't import AVIs, as I could in the previous version.</description>
